Born in Sydney, Australia and raised by a Singaporean Chinese father and Czech born Bulgarian mother, Michael naturally celebrated contrasting cultures. Michael wanted to be a bird photographer at the age of 12 before being shot down by his father’s pragmatism. He fancied marine biology and architecture but became a sports scientist instead. Then, during his travels, Michael fell back in love with the camera (Fujica x500) after shooting a friend’s music video whilst in Singapore. From then, the rest is history. Michael commenced his directing career with promos for MTV and Discovery Channel before taking the plunge into advertising where he quickly collected awards for his work on Toyota, Vodafone, KPN and many more.
Michael is a multi layered storyteller who’s goals include feature film directing. The Maltese Film Fund helped support the inking of Michael’s feature script entitled “Dar” (“Home”). It’s a coming of age story about a young boy who questions his identity after repatriating back to his family’s homeland.
